Okay, I’m brushing off some old skills, or more like knowledge I let rot in the back of my brain and now desperately trying to recall.
Oh! The regret! I should have paid more attention and put more effort in.
For those that don’t know, my undergrad degree is in multimedia and design with a focus in 3-D animation. Before I got into the bulk of the CGI part, I had several classes in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and web design. I was not a good student and did the bare minimum to pass the class. I didn’t think I would need that knowledge or skill, but hindsight is a bitch, and now I need them.
I had Lynda.com at one point but shut it down to save money. So I’ve been looking for basic tutorials to at least make some decent book covers for Wattpad. I would outsource and find an artist, but I wouldn’t be able to pay them and that’s no good. Visually, I can see my ideas but when I sit down to try them out. It’s not pretty. That just means I’ve got to practice, so here are the things I’m learning.
- Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
- Video editing with premier Pro
- Aftereffects
- Sound editing
Honestly, I don’t know how I’m finding the time to do all this plus writing but I’m determined to do something decent. Once I make more than 200 a month I can look into getting an artist to help out with at least the book cover bit.
Oh! Teachers. You were right! I should have tried harder! Sorry for being an awful student.
